Robert Samuels, who died on April 26th, was an extraordinary contributor to the Village of Piermont as the decades-long president of the Piermont Civic Association and editor of The Piermont Newsletter. He also acted as the village’s local correspondent, via his email posts of subjects of special interest to fellow Piermonters. Bob and his beloved partner Karen Brown, who passed away three days later, were a welcoming, familiar presence as they walked their dog on the Pier, attended Village Board meetings and village events. They fostered a sense of community with their frank conviviality and love of Piermont.  In 2018, the PCA honored Bob Samuels for his years of community service.

Bob and Karen were fortunate to have had each other, devoted, loving, and largely inseparable for the many years they were together. It is something of a grace note to have learned they were able to share a room whilst at Englewood Hospital — and a certain comfort in imagining them together once again — and forevermore.
